Helsingborg's innovation leaders are people who help coordinate the administrations' innovation work. They ensure that we work with innovation initiatives that seriously challenge the core business - and that we have innovation initiatives that go across the administrations. They simply have a helicopter view of all the innovation work that is going on. But the most important thing for the innovation leaders is to be the contact person for the employees in the city. It is to the innovation leader that they turn with their ideas, to seek innovation funding, and to get support throughout the process.
The innovation leaders are also part of the city's general network for innovation work, where they exchange experiences between the administrations to create synergies. These collaborations are extra important to be able to solve them urban challenges which we are facing.
The majority of those who are innovation leaders today are people who actually come from the administrations. This means that they have a good knowledge of the business they operate in, at the same time as they already have a good network of contacts with colleagues. Common to all the city's innovation leaders is that they are passionate about innovation and development - and believe in the work that the city does.
Time is a key factor that we took into account when the innovation leaders were appointed. In order for people to be able to work with innovation, time is needed - so there is nothing that can be done at the same time as the usual tasks roll on. In the long run, this has led to more flexible working conditions, new job titles and other challenges that have arisen when temporary staff needed to be appointed to replace those who will work with innovation instead. It is a constantly moving movement - which ultimately leads to the innovation work being interwoven in all businesses, throughout the city.
