What?

The need for language support is great and growing. Daniela Carte's Fernandez as the Administration's marketing and communications manager came up with the idea for the language support BrittMari. She felt that language was sometimes an obstacle to communication and that an app that facilitates and provides support for this could help.

BrittMari is an app that you download to your phone or tablet. The app works as a language support that helps customers and employees in healthcare to understand each other even if they do not speak the same language.

BrittMari translates questions and sentences from customers in nursing homes or in home care into virtually all languages, for example about the day's activities, meals or weather.

Why?

A common situation in healthcare is that customers and employees do not speak the same language. It creates frustration, irritation and not least exclusion. With the language support BrittMari, the health and care administration wants to facilitate communication and work for our employees, while we increase the quality of life for customers.

We need new ways of responding to residents' need to be able to quickly get information about what is important in their everyday lives.

With a simple and clear language support in the business, we facilitate the work, improve the relationship between employee and customer, speed up the work, in many cases avoid the need for an interpreter and create a better life situation for the customer when he can understand and make himself understood.

How?

The language support BrittMari is an application that shows with the support of image, text and sound what a specific task is about. The language support then does a translation and reads it out at a speed that is adapted to the customer's needs. BrittMarie can answer questions about, for example, today's activities, meals or read out news.

The goal is for BrittMari to be ready for use by customers and employees by 2022.

Initially, the language support is available to those who need it in health and care, but since other administrations are also interested in BrittMari, it will probably be spread to many more.
