What?
The Biodolomer for LIFE project shows how non-renewable and energy-intensive plastic and packaging materials can be replaced with a completely new material. Biodolomer® can easily replace 80 % of all volume plastics on the market today - plastics such as PE (polyethylene), PP (polypropylene), PS (polystyrene) and PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Biodolomer® is made from renewable raw materials and the unique concept is based on the following important properties: Renewable, biodegradable, compostable, can be converted into renewable energy, generates basically no carbon dioxide emissions when energy is recovered and emits no microplastics
Why?
To test the manufacturing process (from raw material to end product) with regard to cost efficiency and show how Biodolomer® can generate recyclable waste and renewable energy.
- To ensure quality in terms of function, hygiene and aesthetics. This is done through demonstrations of four reference products for a number of end users.
- To present and disseminate project results to stakeholders in Europe and other regions.
- To influence EU environmental legislation, in particular the Waste Framework Directive.
